From Melissa, one of the board members, directors, and the Adoption/Medical Coordinator for SACR: “Hunter came to me, his foster mom (and eventual forever mom) at 6 weeks old. A small wounded little floof that needed a miracle. Hunter was treated for a massive infection and incontinence of unknown cause. The infections on his hind end eventually resulted in the surgical removal of his man parts and infected tissue. He made friends with the local neurologist, dermatologist, surgical specialist, and Dr. Carotenuto who was his favorite veterinarian by far and at his side for 4 years of care. Hunter wore a diaper his whole life due to his incontinence and skin infections, however he was definitely the cutest Huggies model we had ever seen!
You may think, “this poor cat”, but not Hunter! He lived every minute of his life to the fullest. He helped raise hundreds of kittens and gave his family and friends endless love and laughter. Hunter didn't know he was sick, he just knew orange mice and snuggles.
Hunter would eventually succumb to his chronic infections on June 22nd of 2022, at just 2 months shy of 4 years old, leaving his family and kitty siblings behind. And even though I'm writing this through tears, I can with 100% confidence say that we gave Hunter the most amazing life. Hunter taught me to not be afraid of special needs and with that I've helped save so many other special kitties, including his bestie and my other kitty, Keppra. In 2019 my friends and I decided to start SACR. Hunter has always been and will always be the cat who made us afraid of nothing. That taking risks can work out for the best. He taught myself and so many others to go the extra mile and give every kitty we can a chance at their best life. To never give up. We miss him every single day and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor him than this lounge "
